Michael Harold “Mike” McDowell

October 21, 1951 – September 10, 2025.

Michael Harold McDowell, affectionately known as “Mike,” passed away peacefully at his home in Sumner, Texas, on September 10, 2025, with his three children lovingly at his side. He was 73 years old. Born October 21, 1951, in Kansas City, Missouri, Mike was the son of Harold and Francis McDowell.

After graduating from Paris High School, Mike proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving overseas in Korea in support of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated more than four decades to The Campbell Company as an electrician, retiring in 2012.

Mike lived a life marked by devotion, to his family, his country, and his passions. He was happiest on the golf course, enjoying time with friends, and at home with his faithful Yorkie, Roxy, always by his side.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda McDowell; his father, Harold McDowell; and his mother, Francis McDowell.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: daughter Sarah McCollum and her husband Matt; son Michael McDowell and his wife Kayla; and son Clint McDowell. Mike’s legacy continues through his grandchildren, Steven McDowell, Kaitlyn Harris, Kanyon McDowell, Alyssa McDowell, Xander McDowell, Avree Bennett, Emree Bennett, and Carson McCollum; four great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will forever

hold him close in their hearts.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Courtney Outland and the entire staff of Hospice Plus. The compassion, dignity, and care shown to Mike during his final days will never be forgotten.

A graveside service celebrating Mike’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Mount Vernon Cemetery in Maxey, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Kenny Beard, David Beard, Kanyon McDowell, Xander McDowell, Matt McCollum, Jordan Cunningham.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, the love and laughter he shared will live on in the lives he touched.
