Larry Pruett

Larry Robert 'Lightning' Pruett, 51, of Sumner, devoted and loving husband and father, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Christus St. Joseph's Hospital South.  A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, in Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Chad Burns officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.  He was born May 10, 1951, in Paris, a son of Robert Dean and Mary Margaret Barnes Pruett.  He was a graduate of Paris schools, and a member of First Baptist Church.  He was an avid fisherman, and loved to spend time playing the guitar.  His most enjoyable moments were those spent with family and friends.  He married Pam Guthrie on Dec. 5, 1997, in Paris.  He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Dean Pruett; two sisters, Kenda Friday and JoAnn Pruett; by his grandparents, William Ivy and Josephine Barnes, and Mitchell and Olga Pruett; and by his father-in-law, Jimmy Guthrie.  He is survived by his wife; one son, Jason K. Pruett and wife, Mendy; a daughter, Jennifer L. Pruett; three grandchildren, Jaicey Pruett, Devin Owen and Justin Smith; by his mother, Mary Margaret Friday; by three sisters, Sharon Berry and husband, Darrell, Paula Pruett, and Traci Tolbert and husband, Philip; his mother-in-law, Peggy Guthrie; several loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew.  At the request of the deceased, cremation was accorded following organ donation.
