Melba Joy Smith, 74, of Blossom, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Brentwood Healthcare Center.

Private graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13th at Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

Melba, the daughter of J.C and Nadine Ammons, was born on the 23rd of September, 1949 in Paris. Melba met Dennis in Paris, later to marry and have two children. She was a very active member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where she volunteered her time in the Awanas Club, Red Hat Ladies, and many other organizations. When she was not volunteering her time, she worked as the activity director at several nursing homes around Paris, she also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren.

She leaves behind many who loved and cherished her, preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband Dennis Reid Smith. Survivors include a brother Johnny and wife Lisa Ammons, son Chuck and his wife Dustie, daughter Tammy and husband Kevin Torrens, sister Janice Ammons, one grandson Hunter and husband Cody Smith, one granddaughter Emily Smith, and a great niece, Chelsey Farmer & husband Thomas as well as various other family members.
